Be sure to visit the Gangaramaya Temple, a religious building that possesses a grand and eclectic mix of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese architecture. One of the oldest mosques in Colombo is incidentally the most striking – Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque (also known as Red Masjid) is another popular tourist site.

To experience some of Sri Lanka’s best beaches, be sure to visit Mount Lavinia Beach, which is only a 30-minute taxi ride away from the city centre of Colombo. Here, you will find the ‘Golden Mile’, a section of the beach that is filled with seaside restaurants, pubs, and hotels.
