Tokyo Narita Airport is situated 70km northeast of the city, taking around 40 minutes to reach Tokyo by taxi. The Keisei Narita Skyaccess train also connects the airport to the city centre, bringing visitors into Nihombashi in the Chuo City district within an hour.

A brief introduction to Tokyo

The beautiful and buzzing capital of Japan, Tokyo is an exhilarating fusion of futurism and ancient heritage, accentuated by a world class food scene.

Tokyo’s neighbourhoods are tremendously diverse and prime for exploration. Wander through the colourful streets of Akihabara, Shinjuku or Harajuku, or the quiet old town of Yanesen. In the colourful districts of Harajuku and Shinjuku, you’ll also see the best of Japanese fashion subcultures and vibrant cartoon-like billboards. Step back in time in Tokyo’s ancient temples such as Yanesen’s Nezu Shrine, Meiji Jingu, and the city’s oldest – Senso-ji – which harks back to the year 645.

Foodies are recommended to try the many variations of ramen the city has to offer, some of the more popular being miso (fermented soybean paste) ramen, and shoyu (soy sauce) ramen. Be sure to visit one of the city’s many lush gardens, such as Ueno Onshi Park, Yoyogi Park or Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.
