Cathay Pacific offers daily flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) from Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN) with a layover in Hong Kong (HKG). Flights from SIN to PVG take around 8 hours 30 minutes including the layover, and bring you to Terminal 2 in Shanghai.

Upon your arrival in Shanghai

Shanghai Pudong Airport is around 45km from the People’s Square in the city centre, which is most conveniently reached by taxi in 45 minutes. Buses also depart from the airport and will take around an hour to bring you to the Yan’an Elevated Road – a few minutes’ walk from the square. The MRT, which can be found at the basement level of Terminal 2, will also take you straight to Shanghai’s city centre in just under an hour.

Start your trip with a visit to Shanghai’s famous waterfront area on the Huangpu River, The Bund. Here, you can marvel at the city’s iconic skyline, where ancient buildings juxtapose modern skyscrapers such as the Shanghai Tower and Oriental Pearl Tower. Shanghai is also home to one of the richest collections of art deco architecture in the world, some of the most popular being Grand Cinema, Broadway Mansions, and Rockbund Art Museum.

In the centre of Shanghai, you can step back in time in the Old City, which is abundant with natural sights such as Yu Garden. This beautiful park was built during the Ming Dynasty, and hosts the Exquisite Jade Rock – a 3.3 metre high boulder said to be a gift for the Huizong Emperor in the 1100s.

We also recommend visiting Zhujiajiao Ancient Town in the Qingpu District, a suburb in the west of the city. Once a humble trading area, the Zhujiajiao’s canals have retained their beauty, and serve as the perfect backdrop for a relaxing stroll. While you are there, be sure to try some of Shanghai’s more iconic dishes such as Xiaolongbao steamed dumplings, and the spice-heavy smoked fish slices.
